Profile:

TAKIS S. PAPPAS (PhD, Yale 1995) is Associate Professor of Comparative Politics in Thessaloniki, Greece.

He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute in Florence (EUI); Marie Curie Fellow at EUI; Visiting Fellow at the Quality of Government Institute at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden; Stanley J. Seeger Visiting Research Fellow in Hellenic Studies, Princeton University; Visiting Fellow at the Center for International and Area Studies, Yale University; Jean Monnet Fellow at EUI; and a Research Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies and the Social Science Research Council, New York.

He is currently co-editing (with Hanspeter Kriesi) European Populism in the Shadow of the Great Recession, to be published by ECPR Press.

His work has also appeared, or is forthcoming, in several academic journals including American Behavioral Scientist, Comparative Political Studies, Government and Opposition, Journal of Democracy, Party Politics, Rivista Italiana di Scienza Politica, South European Society and Politics, Southeast European and Black Sea Studies, and West European Politics.

Takis is currently based in Strasbourg, France, where he lives with his wife and their two children, working on a new book project under the tentative title Why Do People Vote for Populists?

Teaching:

He has taught at Yale University, USA; the University of Athens, Greece; the Institut d’Études Politiques, University of Strasbourg, France; the European University Institute, Italy; and the University of Oslo, Norway.
